Abstract | ||
The aim of this study was to determine the mediating role of early maladaptive schema disconnection and rejection in relation between gender stereotypes and overcompensation. The research method was descriptive correlational. The statistical population consisted of students of Islamic azad university 228 male and female students in the 99-98 academic year were selected by sampling method available online and the Young Schema Questionnaire short, Bem Sex Role inventory long and Young Compensation inventory responded. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and path analysis tools. Results showed that the direct effect of female and male stereotypes on the disconnection and rejection schemas was significant. The direct effect of disconnection and rejection schemas are feminine stereotypes are positively significant on overcompensation. But the direct effect of male stereotypes on overcompensation was not significant. The in direct effect of female and male stereotypes was positively significant on overcompensation through disconnection and rejection schemas. Therefore, it is suggested that mass media and education be use to reduce gender stereotypes. | ||
